Announcing Seven New Programs/Services
As new models and
research emerge, Nancy adapts these emerging concepts and
makes them relevant to the real challenges that contemporary
organizations and their leaders face. She guides leaders and
teams through processes of applying theory in highly
relevant, memorable and useful ways.
Here are seven new Nancy Dering,
Inc. Programs/Services that do just that:
1) Leading
Through Transitions
This workshop is based on the
work of the Center for Creative Leadership, a top-ranked,
global provider of executive education. It explores six
leadership seemingly paradoxical attributes related to
managing change. Through discussion and case studies, the
participants are challenged to lead with strength and
empathy, urgency and patience, self-reliance and trust, and
optimism and realism. Available in both one and two-day
sessions, this workshop is a must for organizations faced
with change or anticipating significant periods of
transition.
2) Campbell
Leadership Descriptor Workshop
The Campbell Leadership
Descriptor (CLD) is a self-assessment tool that assesses
nine components of leadership. These components include six
“Major Tasks” of leadership and three “Personal Components”
of leadership and are based on studies, projects and
research conducted over the past thirty years by David
Campbell at the Center for Creative Leadership. Available in
both a half-day and full-day format, Nancy guides the
participants through their CLD results, coaches them to
identify developmental targets and guides them through a
process to plan for their continuing leadership development.
3) The Board
Building Cycle Workshop
This half-day workshop is based
on Berit Lakey’s 2007 book, The Board Building Cycle,
published by BoardSource. In the workshop, Nancy guides
boards or Governance Committees through the nine steps to
finding, recruiting and engaging nonprofit board members.
Each step is accompanied by tools, charts, resources and
action steps to apply the concepts to each person’s
respective board development responsibilities. Each
participant also receives a copy of the book and a CD with
the tools introduced during the workshop. This is a must for
every non-profit Governance or Nominating Committee.
4) Leadership
Challenge Inventory Workshop
This workshop is based on the
leadership classic, The Leadership Challenge by James Kouzes
and Barry Posner. Participants complete a self-assessment,
using the Leadership Practices Inventory (LPI) and identify
their leadership strengths and areas for development. The
assessment is also available for completion in 360-fashion,
soliciting input from subordinates, peers and the
supervising manager. This workshop is available in one, two
and three-day versions, depending on the depth of
development desired by the client.
5) Executive
Coaching
Since 2008, Nancy has been
facilitating Executive Coaching assignments in
organizations. She focuses on those situations where
individuals are being prepared for progressively more
responsive leadership or management responsibilities. Using
a structured, yet flexible, approach based on Executive
Coaching with Backbone and Heart: A Systems Approach to
Engaging Leaders with Their Challenges (2007) by Mary Beth
O’Neill, Nancy works with the executive, administers and
interprets 360-degree feedback tools and guides the
development of an Individual Development Plan in
collaboration with the executive’s supervising manager. She
continues to coach and consult through the implementation of
the Development Plan.
6) Exploring
Mentoring Workshop
This workshop explores the use
of mentoring for leadership development, succession planning
and knowledge management in organizations. This workshop is
a half-day or full-day workshop. It can also be specially
designed to first convene mentors as a group, then protégés
as a group, and then mentor-proteges in pairs in order to
jointly plan their mentor-protégé assignment. This course
has successfully been used by the Social Security
Administration and has been video-taped and widely used by
SSA regional offices throughout the United States.
7)
Performance-Based Team Development
This process uses highly
reliable assessment tools to solicit input from team members
about the performance of the team. Nancy works with senior
managers to select the appropriate assessment methodologies
(surveys, focus groups, narratives, interviews and
observation). Nancy compiles, analyzes, interprets and
reports the results. Then, using the results of these
assessments, Nancy designs one to three-day Team Development
Sessions that underscore the team’s strengths and develop
plans to address dynamics, obstacles or behaviors that
impede the team’s optimum performance. |
